Meritage Red 750ml
$42.00
“Laurita’s latest entry in the premium wine category is its stylish 2018 Meritage. As its name suggests, it conforms to the Bordeaux model of proprietary blending of two or more varietals, usually Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and often with minor amounts of Petit Verdot or Cabernet Franc. In this case, the Laurita model comprises two-thirds Cabernet Sauvignon, and one-third Merlot. Stylistically, it hews much more closely to the European than the Napa profile favoring elegance, balance and affinity for food over the fruit-driven, stand-alone, oaky, often too-alcoholic presence of the Californian model.
In the glass, its appealing garnet color suggests a medium-bodied rather than the over-extracted, inky types we’ve come to expect. Aromas of cassis and pure berry fruit combined with hints of cedar and nutmeg presage its pleasing effect on the palate: medium-bodied, generously fruit-driven but restrained by lively acidity and unburdened by any presence of excessive oak.
In short, Laurita’s wine presents an admirable expression of its fruit, a worthy dinner companion to a wide variety of dishes, and one of the best-ever bottlings in this winery’s history.” ~ Albert Bassano, Bloomberg Wine Editor (retired)

Meritage wines are provocative red or white wines crafted solely from specific “noble” Bordeaux grape varieties and are considered to be the very best wines of the vintage.
Meritage wines are growing in popularity, and are currently the second fastest-growing wine category in the industry. They are highly regarded for their aging potential, yet are completely approachable in their youth.
Laurita Winery Meritage Red 2018 is a unique blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot resulting in a smooth, silky, texture, and complex, robust structure.
The current wine consists of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon and 37% Merlot.
