We’re ready to ring in the New Year! And like everyone else, we’re working on our New Year’s Resolutions! So how about some wine-related resolutions?!

We’ve got a list (borrowed from Bon Appetit, who ran helpful lists in 2017 AND 2018!) of Wine Resolutions for a Better New Year!

Drink More!

Sounds easy, right? But we’re talking about water, not wine. And here’s a trick!

…after every glass of wine, fill that same glass with water. It’s easy to ignore a separate glass of water and twirl your finger for your next pour, but drinking water from your wine glass makes it impossible for you to get more wine without hydrating first.

Control Your Cork!

Avoid a midnight trip to the emergency room!

A sparkling wine’s pressure fluctuates based on its temperature, so it is important to always open sparkling wine when it is very cold, over the sink, and aim it away from anyone/everyone/anything breakable.

Drink More!

This time we do mean wine! As in, white wine, which is better than ever!

With the rise in popularity of old school but innovative techniques like skin-contact fermentation and controlled oxidation, we have access to white wines with incredible variations of body and flavor.

Actual Aging!

The next time you buy a bottle of wine to save for the future, actually save it!

Aging a wine allows its flavors to evolve and become more complex, but you have to actually let it that happen. Not save it for a month before finding an excuse to open it for company past midnight when no one is even going to remember it.

And Most Importantly… Enjoy!

Slow down, appreciate and enjoy your wine!’

It’s easy to want to drink a glass of wine as quickly as possible after a hard day, but in 2018, give yourself the time to sit back, relax, and really enjoy your wine. That’s the whole point of wine, and is one resolution you can definitely keep.

Can you think of any other resolutions we missed? Drop ’em in the comments, and maybe we’ll add them to our list!
