But what happens when you marry the two together into one recipe? Well, you’re left with a treat that’s out of this world.I am pretty certain that wine and ice cream both have a place in most people’s list of top loved foods and beverages. They certainly rank super high on my list!

Lucky for you, you can make your own wine flavored ice cream right in the comfort of your home. This recipe is easy to preparea, requires only a few key ingredients and tastes super delish!

Ingredients required

The first ingredient you will require is a cup of high quality wine. Fruity varieties such as our Merlot and Relaxing Red work especially well because they blend in nicely with the fruit used in this recipe. You want to use cold wine, so you can either grab a bottle directly from your wine cooler or chill it in an ice bucket for a little while.

You will also need one cup of granulated sugar, two cups of cold heavy whipping cream, an eighth of a cup of corn starch, an eighth of a cup of dry milk powder, one teaspoon of salt, two vanilla pods & one and a half cups of pureed mixed berries (we used blackberries, blueberries and strawberries).

Begin by combining the wine, sugar, corn starch, milk powder, salt and scrapings from the vanilla pods in a bowl. Combine thoroughly using an egg beater or whisk until you are left with a homogenous mixture.

In a separate large bowl, beat the cream using a hand mixer (or similar device) until it is a thick fluffy consistency. Next add in the wine mixture and pureed berries, using the hand mixer to combine everything together.

Once combined, pour the mixture into a freezable container, smoothening the top using a spatula. Freeze the mixture for 8 – 12 hours, until it hardens.

And voila, there you have it, your own homemade wine flavored ice cream. Trust me when I say this ice cream will disappear fast. In fact, if you plan on sharing it with family and friends, you might want to make a secret stash just for yourself!
