WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THE VINEYARD & WINERY CELLARS

Okay, so you get the drift! (some of us had it in driveway as well as on the roads, school parking lots, the Parkway, the Turn Pike, just everywhere!!)

Bitter cold and snow, enough already. This is Jersey! It’s normally forty(40) degrees.

Whoever prayed for Snow, STOP IT!!!! Instead, wax up your water skis!!

If you’re going’ to pray, then do so by asking your god to protect our vine buds. The single digit temperatures have caused concern amongst wineries in hopes that the buds survived and did not die off. A few wineries in the surrounding states have filed for crop damage and sent scouts out to determine the extent of damage/dead buds.

As I write this, we’re actively pruning the plants, surveying what, if any damage we have encountered and we can only hope. As mentioned, this is true for many wineries in Jersey and neighboring states.

Okay, now the good news. The 2013 Harvested grapes were exceptionally clean and sweet. Good acids, high sugar levels, full flavours, and currently resting quietly in our tanks & barrels.

FYI. For those attending our Festivals, be sure to inquire about our Barrel Tastings. I’ve got five barrels each of the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay that are absolutely beautiful. Full rich flavours, aroma & bouquets, balanced with the Chocolate and Vanillins of our Hungarian Oak barrels.

Cheers!!
