Photo Documentary Evening – Open Exhibit – March 24! Visit with Photographer, Free Admission

Friday, March 1, 2013 – Laurita Winery will be hosting a special photo exhibit by a local photographer and NJ National Guardsman Robert (Bob) Drapala. Laurita has a long standing relationship with Bob who is an incredible photo artist and has spent many hours at the Winery takingPrint photos providing many of the pictures you will see on display. Bob was deployed for a year in Kosovo and volunteered to help deliver much needed aid to several isolated villages. Prior to leaving, Bob said he was going to share his experience upon his return. Laurita is proud to help Bob share those memories with his exhibit at the Winery; please join us and take the time to view and read the stories Bob has on display to share with us.

This photo exhibit provides a small glimpse of a small country located in between Serbia, Macedonia and Albania. Kosovo used to be the old Yugoslavia and a place where a terrible religious war has raged between the Albanians and Serbians during the late 1990s and 2000s.

While in Kosovo Bob was given the opportunity, by his command, to volunteer to deliver clothes, food and the stock-pile of goods that had been accumulated from the generosity of families and organizations from the US. His time spent with the children and people will never be forgotten. He was lucky enough to have received permission to photograph and document their way of life. The children loved having their pictures taken and the adults where so grateful for the help that they and their families received.

Bob has partnered with “The Ideas Partnership” organization and will share portions of his proceeds from the exhibit to help the families of Kosovo.

“I know there are places like this all over the world, sometimes worse.. much worse.. sometimes better.. But since I was deployed to this part of the world for about a year took the opportunity to make a small difference. I am hoping that I can continue to help in a small way with the photographs I brought back with me and share the experience with you.” Robert Drapala, Kosovo 2012

Photo Exhibit will be on display during the months of March and April 2013. All photos are offered for sale.
