LAURITA WINERY WINS “GOLD” IN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION
New Egypt, NJ—Laurita Winery, situated in New Egypt, was the winner of two Gold Medals at the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition last month in Rochester, N.Y. The winery won gold medals for its Cabernet Sauvignon and Naked Chardonnay.
“There were 3,285 wines in all classes judged by a panel of 60 well-known wine specialists” said David Male, Competition Chairman. “There were 753 entries from 15 countries, as well as every state in the Union and the 6 provinces of Canada,” he said.
Nicolaas Opdam, Laurita’s Oenologist and Vineyard Manager, said he was very gratified with the competition’s results. “It gives me great satisfaction to have the quality of Laurita’s wines recognized and awarded gold medals by this prestigious organization,” he said. David Male, Competition Chairman, said a gold medal award equals a wine rating of 90 to 95.
