Helping to Fund Cancer Research, One Glass of Wine at a Time
New Egypt, NJ January 8, 2010 – During October 2010
Laurita Winery hosted several events, including its Drink Pink campaign, in support of breast cancer research.
The New Egypt, NJ winery helped fulfill the promise of HOPE one glass of wine at a time. As a result of its fundraising initiative, Laurita is pleased to present an $11,000 contribution to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
The maxim of the Foundation is “one single story can inspire, teach and provide hope for millions of women and men across the globe.” Laurita has its share of stories to inspire as a family member, employee and several customers have been affected by this devastating disease. The month-long event was inspired by one of Laurita’s namesakes, Laura Johnson, a breast cancer survivor, and by Patty Loukides, a Laurita volunteer, who has recently been diagnosed.
In addition to donating a percentage of sales, Laurita organized the Vines of Life Walk. As supporters strolled through the vineyard, sipping wine at its source, they were greeted by survivors at the wine and cheese rest stations. More than 300 people gathered together to demonstrate unity and to share in their commitment to a cure.
Laurita is grateful to all of our guests and participants for helping us to make this donation possible and we look forward to our Second Annual Vines of Life Walk this coming October.
